At 43 years old, I was overweight living with high anxiety and had almost no energy. You know how the saying goes...I was sick and tired of being sick and tired, so I signed up for personal training at Golightly fitness. I can tell you that there isn’t a better place to start your new lifestyle than Golightly Fitness.  Gerald make you feel like you his only client.  Gerald walked me through everything from my nutrition to learning how to breath when you exercise.  He knows when to push you and knows when to pull back.  Not even 6 months into his program, my life has completely changed. I’ve lost almost 50 pounds, my anxiety is gone and I can’t believe the amount of energy I have.  I always held off changing my lifestyle because I thought it would take too long to achieve my ultimate goals, but I learned that just being on the path to a heathier lifestyle feels really good.  You don’t have to lose 50 pounds to start feeling better…you just have to start. It only takes a few weeks of work to turn it all around.  People I haven’t seen in 6 months don’t even recognize me.  I can tell you, there is no better feeling.

Here is an interview with Jonathan Hudson, one of our greatest success stories

When did you become unhappy with your weight?
When my back and knees where hurting from all the extra weight I was carrying around. I knew it was time to do something about it.

What made you decide to lose weight?
When I stepped on the scale and saw I weighed in at a whopping 330lbs. I was embarrassed that I had let myself get to this point in my life. I was starting to feel lethargic all the time and started having bad back pains & knee issues. Also I had lost the passion for working out and knew I wanted to gain that feeling back. After playing basketball with some old high school friends and seeing how good of shape they were in. I asked what they were doing to better themselves. They told me about a gym called Golightly Fit. So my next step was to go see Gerald Golightly at Golightly Fit.

What were the most important changes you made to lose weight?
Diet and exercise! You can’t do one without the other. I dropped my calorie intake to around 1,500 and cut my fat intake as low as possible. Sugar, calories, fat. 3 keys to my success in the diet. Being so heavy and out of shape meant starting really slow on the workouts. I started going to the gym every day that Gerald was open. The first month was really hard as I was trying to get back into the swing of things. After the first month and having seen the positive changes happening to my body. It motivated me to push harder and reach my goal. I went through a lot a pain with my back and knees, but I finally got to where I could complete a whole class without stopping and I would feel amazing after a hard workout. After losing 60lbs, I started challenging myself on certain workout stations to make it even more of a challenge to complete.  Now that I have been going to Golightly Fit for the last 8 months I have lost over a 100lbs and I look forward to hitting my target weight goal by the end of December.

What was most challenging about losing weight?
Staying away from all the bad temptations that life throws our way. I still eat what I want every now and then, but I learned to do things in moderation. Honestly, the workouts only took about 1 month before I became addicted to it. I find myself doing extra workouts at home in my free time. Now I feel like bad if I don’t workout.

How long did it take you to start to see results?
Honestly, I started seeing results in 1 month. People started commenting on me losing weight and I was really starting to feel better physically and mentally. When other’s comment on your success, it kind of gives you that little boost to keep going.

How long did it take for you to reach your current weight?
8 months. I know that is extreme in most cases, but I am one of those people who go all out when I put my mind to something. A lot of painful days, and I’m sure the doctors would have given me disappointed looks because of the amount of calories I cut back on at first and the amount of exercise I was doing, but I figured I was headed for my death anyway, so go for it.

How long have you maintained your weight loss and how do you do it?
I have maintained my weight loss for over 8 months now. The best way I can say is to get active and have fun while doing it.

How has your life changed now that you’ve lost weight?
I feel like I did back in high school when I was playing baseball & basketball. Plus, I’m getting those looks again and that is always a great feeling to have. It lets you know that you are doing something right in your life.

How did Golightly Fit help you reach your weight loss goals?
I had already begun my quest before finding Golightly Fit, but after finding Golightly Fit, I really found good advice and tips for circuit training and the safe and proper ways to do them. I also LOVE the tips on healthy snacks and supplements. Now I have a lot of options. Golightly Fit is a resource NOT to pass up. You can learn so much from coach Gerald and I advise on stopping by and taking one of his spectacular classes. THANKS!
